DIY Chokers

Heyy Heyy

So this has been a long time coming. And I am excited to share this DIY with you. Everyone knows chokers are the ‘in’ thing right now and they spruce up any outfit giving it that edge. Yes you know it!

Anyway I teamed up with Lerato of 1ne2wenty3hree and we made a few different chokers! Each choker cost less than R10 to make and they are so simple too! Lets get right into it!

What you’ll need:
Black ribbon
Lace
An old pair of jeans
Charms
Jump rings
Velcro
Glue (I used nail glue)
A pair of scissors

For each choker you will need to measure the perimeter of your neck. We used the material of the various chokers but you can also use measuring tape.

Choker #1

Step 1) Cut the ribbon according to your measurements and burn the end to avoid fraying. Put the ribbon around your neck and mark the center.

Step 2) Insert the jump ring into the ribbon where you marked the center.

Step 3) Insert a charm into the jump ring and close it.

Step 4) Cut small pieces of velcro and stick them to either side of the ribbon accordingly. I used nail glue for extra security.

Choker #2

Step 1) Cut a piece of denim from the old pair of jeans. It can be your desired width however the length is according to the perimeter of your neck.
Step 2) Distress and fray the denim.
Step 3) Stick some velcro to either side of the piece of denim and you’re done!

This is the piece you should end up with.

Step 2) Button it together and then put it around your neck with the button in the center. Cut off the extra piece behind your neck leaving enough room for some overlap for the velcro.

Step 3) Stick the velcroΒ  to either side and you are done!

Choker #4

Step 1) Cut a piece of lace long enough according to the perimeter of your neck and cut out pieces of velcro.
Step 2) Sew (DO NOT GLUE) the velcro on. The glue seeps through and it doesn’t really work with lace.
And you’re done!

And it’s as easy as that! 4 chokers in 30 minutes! You can switch up the designs and play around with them according to your style and self-expression! I hope you enjoyed this DIY. You can go check out Lerato’s post (part 2)Β HERE .Β  You will not be disappointed!
