Thrift Shift II

Hey Hey

So earlier this week I introduced you to the awesomeness that is Chiedza of DiaryOfSmurfDinkie. If you didn’t read that post you can check it out here. She took me on a thrifting trip a few weeks ago and it was, like I said in the previous post, an exciting experience for me! I got to step out of my box in major way and I’m sure you’re all wondering how? It’s just thrifting right? WRONG!

  •    For the trip to actually happen I had to reach out to someone and get over this fear/inability/ (whatever you can call it) to make new friends and take the first step
  •     I went to Mupedzanhamo in Mbare (Zimbabweans will know this market). It’s not a place I grew up just going to.
  •     I was able to just be myself around the people I was with. No false pretenses (I will delve deeper into this sometime)
  •     I bought some dope pieces of clothing at AMAZING prices!

So about a week after the trip Chiedza invited me and a few other people to collaborate on her blog. The experience of the photoshoot was so much fun and it was something different for me. I also got to make even more friends. For the shoot I decided to wear a shirt that I DIY’d but I had ALSO bought on our thrifting trip. How cool is that!? Here are some pictures from the day and of the shirt.

What I’m wearing : Shirt US$0.50
Jeans US$1.50
Khaki Jacket US$2

This shirt can also be worn as a dress in the summer with a belt to shape it or with a pair of shorts. Unfortunately I did not record the process of making it but please let me know if you’d like a pictorial of this in the comments section!

You can check out my interview on Chiedza’s blog to know more about me and my thrifting experience here! You can also see more pictures from the shoot of myself and our other friends as she goes along!

Hey! Thank you! In the event that I dont end up doing the post I’ll just tell you now.. haha I didnt do anything. Literally. It’s just a wash n go. With no manipulation whatsoever. I just put in some coconut oil and that was it.
