The Glo’Up – DIY Highlighter

Hey Hey

May is already over! This year is moving by fast! Anyway I am super excited about today’s DIY. Initially I wasn’t going to share it because I didn’t think anyone would be interested but I thought otherwise. This could just help someone.

So I’ve been looking for an illuminating/mineralised/highlighting/ glow powder in the drugstores to no avail. I know MAC and other high end makeup lines offer them in different shades but honestly I’m just not there yet. So I came across a mini Instagram tutorial and I just had to try it out too! And here we are! The results are amazing and I am very happy with myself. The only product I bought was the Rubbing Alcohol which cost R49. I had everything else lying around in my flat. The great thing about this powder is that you can customise it to your preference and it is a compact powder. It is best to use shimmery pigments (the golds and coppers) to get that pretty glow but do you boo! Have fun with it! This is a short tutorial. I hope you enjoy!

What you’ll need:
Pigments (I used eyeshadows and a gold pigment)
Any face powder (for the base)
A little cup
Something to mix it with
Any empty eyeshadow or face powder pan
Rubbing alcohol

Step 1 : Mix your pigments. Swatch them inbetween mixing to ensure that you get your desired colour. I swatched mine twice and I mixed them on a piece of foam board. A paper plate or any card will work.

Step 2 : Pour the powder into the little cup.
Step 3 : Pour in enough rubbing alcohol to make a paste and mix it well. I used less than a quarter of the cap.
Step 4 : Pour the mixture into the empty pan. Allow this to dry for 8+ hours.
This is the result! Your very own highlighting powder perfect for that Glo’Up! (image true to colour)

And this is my face after I used the highlighting powder! This has literally joined my everyday makeup collection already! I love it! I’m sure you can feel my excitement! If you make this please do share it with me via social media or anywhere. I’d love to see yours! Let’s have fun discover and share!

I made it! It’s incredible. I use a whole load of pigment because I want the glow to be seen from outer space, and this was perfect for that. Thank you for posting!
